Portland, Ore. – The Multnomah University volleyball team saw a similar result losing in three straight sets to The Evergreen State College on Friday night.
After tonight's result (21-25, 16-25, 13-25) the Lions drop to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in Cascade Conference play while Evergreen (1-4, 1-0 CCC) secure their first conference win of the year.
For the second night in a row, sophomore outside hitter Patty Batoon led the team in kills with nine followed by freshman outsider hitter
Miranda Halverson (eight kills) and junior middle blocker
Kathrynn Gerard (seven).
MU stuck with the Geoducks in the first set rallying from a 19-14 deficit to come within one point (20-21) but allowed two more errors to give Evergreen the early lead.
Errors continued to overwhelm the Lions throughout the match as Evergreen used a .359 attacking percentage in set two and a .440 percentage in the final set to earn the win.
"We served better tonight. Evergreen out played us and was more consistent, and came out on top" said head coach
Jenna Bouey.
Leading the way for the Geoducks were freshman outsider Natalie Taylor with 13 kills and junior outsider Jorden Porter with 12 kills.
Freshman setter
Marissa Rhodes tallied her second consecutive 20 plus assist night totaling 24. She recorded all but two of MU's assists in the match.
The Lions return to action tomorrow night as they welcome Northwest University for their final game of this home stretch.
