ASHLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University volleyball team fell in three straight sets () to one of the top programs in the country in eighth-ranked Southern Oregon on the road on Friday night.
With the loss, the Lions move to 1-5 overall and 0-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. This was the highest ranked opponent the MU volleyball team has ever faced.
Southern Oregon continued their undefeated streak improving to 12-0, 5-0 CCC on the season.
How it Happened: The Raiders used a match best .429 attacking percentage to take the first set over the Lions by a score of 25-14. SOU came out quickly earning the first four points of the match and never lost that lead in the early set. MU brought it to a one point match at 4-3 before a six point run sealed the win for the Raiders.
MU had a better start in the second set holding an early 5-4 lead but SOU shut down the Lions on an 8-3 run to take command. Multnomah matched their high for kills in a set in the match with eight kills in the first two sets but committed their most errors in set two with 7. The second set ended with a score of 25-15.
Earning their lowest attacking percentage in a set on the season, the Lions struggled in the deciding third match caused by a .429 kill percentage by the Raiders. Using an 8-3 run, SOU ended the final match of the night by a score of 25-9.

Patty Batoon led the Lions in kills as she had done all season with 11 against Southern Oregon. Freshman setter
Marissa Rhodes tallied 16 assists on the night while junior
Kiana Miller added nine digs.
For the Raiders, Tyana Andrews finished with 12 kills while Lauren McGowne totaled 30 assists on the night.
