ASHLAND, Ore. – In their first ever competition against the Raiders, the Multnomah University women's basketball team fell to Cascade Conference opponent Southern Oregon 98-51, on Wednesday night at Ashland High School.
Karissa Cox led the offense for the Lions (3-10, 1-4 CCC) recording a season high 13 points while hitting three shots from behind the arc. Cox finished 4-of-6 from the field while adding four rebounds.
Lacie Kamper finished with a team high six rebounds to go along with six points while
Lexie Govert and
Miranda Schmillen ended the night with nine and seven points respectively.
"SOU has a lot of offensive weapons and we struggled to get stops," said head coach
Tim Bieri. "We Certianly learned a lot tonight and I am happy with how the ladies responded to the challenge of facing this top ranked team. Everyone contributed for us tonight and that will continue to make us better overall."
The Raiders (12-0 overall, 5-0 Cascade Conference) were led by senior Carly Meister who tallied 18 points along with 11 rebounds followed by Sydney Mullings with 16 points and Ashley Claussen with 13 points.
Southern Oregon proved why the hold the highest scoring offense in the Cascade Conference tonight, scoring early an often to put the game away in a hurry, earning the first victory in the series between these two teams.
The Lions will remain on the southern end of the state for one more night as they take on Oregon Tech tomorrow night.
