AT MULTNOMAH UNIVERSITY: In May of 2019, Colton Naill was selected to be the new Head Coach of the Multnomah University Women's Volleyball program. Colton brings over 12 years of camp coaching and 7 years of elite club volleyball coaching to Portland, spending the last 6 years in Orange County California, coaching all ages on the boys and girls side, indoor and beach. Colton has been a part of 2 National Championship winning club teams, has Head Coached 2 teams to USA Division Gold and has sent many former players to the college level. COACHING BACKGROUND:Â Prior to joining Multnomah, Colton spent the last 6 years in southern California, Head & Assistant coaching for Tstreet Volleyball Club (Girls, Irvine CA) and at Balboa Bay Volleyball Club (Boys, Costa Mesa CA). At Tstreet, Colton won the club's first ever Gold Medal at GJNC, with his 17-1s winning the USA Division in 2015. Colton again Head Coached the 17-1s in 2016, finishing 25th in 17 Open. In 2017, Colton Head Coached the 13-1s to the Volleyball Festival Gold Medal. Colton formerly ran Tstreet's Elite Beach Volleyball Club with Olympic gold medal winning player and coach, Troy Tanner. Since joining Tstreet in 2013, Colton was a Lead Coach for the Tweens program and contributed to various Summer Camps, all while maintaining the website and helping with graphic design.Â
On the boys side, Colton experienced tremendous success at Balboa Bay, winning Gold medals at USAV BJNC 3 years in a row from 2016-2018. Most recently, Colton Head Coached the 18-2s, winning Gold at the SCVA Qualifier and SCVA Classic. In 2018, Colton was the Head Coach for 17-2, going undefeated at BJNC and winning Gold in the 17 USA Division. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Coach for 18-1 in 2018, winning the National Championship in 18 Open. He also was the Assistant for the same team at 17s, winning the 17 Open National Championship in Dallas in 2016. Colton has also served Balboa Bay's Marketing Director, Lead Designer and Webmaster since 2013, developing all logos, apparel, print, web and social media. Colton has previously coached men's college volleyball for Orange Coast College in 2018/19 and for Conordia-Irvine in 2013/14.Â
Prior to relocating to California, Colton got his start coaching club for NVVA, leading their Boys 14s team to a 19th place finish in 14 Open in Reno in 2013. Colton has been a camp coach since 2007, and has coached for USA Volleyball High Performance, Gold Medal Squared, Tstreet, George Mason University (Patriot Volleyball Camp & Fred Chao High Performance), Marymount University, the United States Naval Academy, Pat Powers and most importantly, and where it all started, Bruce & Barb Koller's York Volleyball Camp.Â
PERSONAL: Colton grew up in York Pennsylvania and learned the game from his Dad. He played for Central York High School, earning All County in '05 & '06, All District in '05 & '06 and All State in '06. He played club for First Capitol, and went to Nationals with Damons in 2005 (5th in 17 Club), and Yorktowne in 2006 (5th in 18 Open). Colton played at the Division 1 level for George Mason University for Head Coach Fred Chao from 2007-2011, and graduated with a B.S. in Health, Fitness & Recreation Resources.Â
Colton lives in West Linn with his wife Lauren, their dog Brody and cat Suzy Lee. In addition to MU, Colton currently coaches club in Salem for NPJ. When he's not in the gym, Colton loves to snowboard, and spends the winter working for the ultra-cool Portland based mountain shuttle, Green Dream Bus. He also loves rock and roll music, playing beach volleyball and exploring all that God has created in the PNW.
