Tayo Gem (Head Coach) – Coach Tayo was born and raised in Portland, OR and graduated from David Douglas high school. Coach Tayo continued his academic and basketball career at Western Oregon University (D2) as a redshirt and then transferred to Cascade College (NAIA).

Coach Tayo earned a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Early Education, English & Bible) from Cascade College/Oklahoma Christian University and earned a master’s degree in Management & Leadership from Multnomah University.

Tayo has 15 years of coaching and player development experience at the AAU, high school, college, and professional level. His desire for coaching comes from the love of basketball and the passion of having a positive impact on young people, helping them reach their full potential both on and off the court. In the 2022-23 season, Coach Tayo returned to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) as an assistant coach under then-head coach, Curt Bickley who was entering into his 20th and final season with the Lions head coach.

Over the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, Coach Tayo quickly made the Multnomah men's basketball program competitive and well respected throughout the entire Cascade Collegiate Conference. During his first season, Coach Tayo led the Lions to the toughest and most successful non-conference schedule (5-1) with wins versus four national tournament teams, a season sweep against Multnomah's rivalry school (first time in program history), and fourth-best overall record in program history since joining the NAIA over a decade ago.

During his second season, Coach Tayo and the Lions accomplished several "firsts & bests," which included Multnomah's best-ever start to a season (9-2), best conference record, best overall record, first winning conference record, and first playoff win in program history since joining the NAIA.

Unfortunately, with the announcement of the school's decision to discontinue all undergrad and athletic programs starting in the Fall of 2025, Coach Tayo's time at Multnomah has come to an end, as he will pursue other options to continue his coaching career.
