Lions Complete Season Sweep Over Eagles

PORTLAND, Ore. - Multnomah continued their pursuit of a Cascade Collegiate Conference post-season playoff berth with a 110-103 win over Northwest University, completing the season sweep over the Eagles.

"It's games like this one that show just how special this group is, with several guys in double figures contributing at different times during the game," shared head coach Tayo Gem. "Credit to Northwest for giving us a game - they competed for the entire 40 minutes, and the game could have gone either way. With four games to go, the mindset is still to 'get better at being us.' I'm so proud of this group for going above and beyond to reach our goals."

Multnomah trailed by as much as eight during the first half, before regaining control of the contest in the final four minutes of the period thanks to a pair of three-pointers from Keilan Torkornoo. The sophomore forward closed out the half with a layup in the final 20 seconds to secure a five-point lead for the hosts heading into the halftime break.

It was more of the same from both teams in the early stages of the second half, but a 6-0 run from the Lions with just over 10 minutes still to play was enough momentum to push them over the line tonight. The hosts were able to maintain the lead for the duration of the contest, extending their advantage to as much as 11 during that time. A pair of made free throws from sophomore guard Noah Madsen were enough to secure the seven-point victory for the Lions, who shot 62.9% from the field, 53.3% from three-point range, and 85.7% from the free throw line.

The Lions dominated in the paint during tonight's contest, scoring 62 points compared to Northwest's 46. They did well to capitalize on turnovers, tallying 22 points from Northwest's mistakes while narrowly controlling the glass with 30 rebounds to the visitor's 25.

Junior guard/forward Braedon Edison led the way for the Lions tonight with a season-high 25 points off the bench. Torkornoo added 20 points and five rebounds, while junior forward Noah McCord tallied 18 points, and game-highs of seven rebounds and six steals. Kadeem Nelson and Lareel Stewart rounded out the scoring for Multnomah tonight, recording 17 points and 10 points respectively.

The Lions will host their final home games in program history next weekend as they welcome Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho to Jim Skagen Court.
