As a part of the Legacy Weekend happening at Multnomah University this weekend, Multnomah Women's Basketball team took on their rivals, Northwest University.
Â
From the moment the game began, both teams came out firing, trading baskets and playing with intensity. As the game progressed, Northwest University began to pull ahead, led by the stellar performance of Kylie Lunday. Her sharp shooting and tenacious rebounding kept Multnomah on their toes, as she racked up an impressive 23 points and 10 rebounds throughout the game.
Â
However, Multnomah refused to back down, with
Kailyn Allison leading the charge for the Lions. Her 19 points and 6 rebounds kept her team within striking distance, while the Huerta sisters added to the offensive effort with their own double-digit scoring.
Â
Despite their best efforts, Multnomah struggled to match Northwest's efficiency, shooting just 33% from the field compared to Northwest's 44%. The game reached its climax in the fourth quarter when Northwest surged ahead to a 14-point lead, leaving Multnomah scrambling to catch up.
Â
In the end, Northwest emerged victorious with a final score of 72-59, but the Lions refused to hang their heads. They knew they had fought hard until the very end and were determined to bounce back stronger in their next game against The Evergreen State College, set to take place at home at 3:00pm.
Â
With their sights set on redemption, the Lions prepared to return to the court and give it their all once again. The program will be honoring their Seniors,
Kaela Stonebarger and
Myka Taliman, tomorrow before the game.
