It was a thrilling game night at the Multnomah Men's Basketball arena as they played host to Northwest University. The energy was electric as fans poured into the stands, eager to witness the showdown between these two talented teams.
Â
From the get-go, Multnomah came out firing on all cylinders, dominating the court with their aggressive offense and suffocating defense. Led by
Taylor Pomeroy and
Neyland Block, the Lions raced to an early lead, leaving their opponents reeling. The first six minutes saw Multnomah surge ahead by a staggering 21 points, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Â
But basketball is a game of momentum shifts, and Northwest University wasn't about to go down without a fight. Slowly but surely, they clawed their way back into contention, fueled by the relentless scoring prowess of Lewis Pope and the tenacious rebounding of Luke Howard. Despite the Lions' best efforts to maintain their lead, Northwest gradually chipped away at the deficit, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.
Â
As the game entered its final minutes, the tension in the arena was palpable. With the score neck and neck, both teams battled fiercely, trading basket for basket in a desperate bid for victory. In the end, it was Northwest University who emerged triumphant, edging out the Lions with a narrow 84-81 victory.
Â
Despite the heartbreaking loss, there were standout performances on both sides. Luke Howard's double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds showcased his dominance in the paint, while
Miles Macadory's stellar rebounding efforts kept Multnomah in the game until the final buzzer. On the opposing end, Lewis Pope's 18-point explosion spearheaded Northwest's comeback, with five players reaching double digits in scoring.
Â
As the disappointed Lions retreated to the locker room, they knew they had given it their all on the court. But there was little time to dwell on the defeat, as they quickly turned their focus to tomorrow's matchup against The Evergreen State. The program will be honoring their 7 Seniors tomorrow at the beginning of the game.
