ROCKLIN, Calif. -
Marje Windfield's 25-point night was not enough to propel Multnomah to victory tonight, as they narrowly fell 59-58 in an exhibition game against NCAA Division II side Jessup University.Â
"Tonight's game was a great test of our character, as well as a good benchmark for where we are at as a team in the early stage of the season," said head coach Tayo Gem. "Overall I think we had a really great game tonight, and we just came up a little short. But this is what these games are for - to play against top competition, to test ourselves, and to continue to get better."
Multnomah shot 25.7% from the field tonight, with Windfield and
Keilan Torkornoo leading the way offensively. Torkornoo recorded his second double-double in as many games with 14 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Junior forward
Noah McCord had an impressive night as well despite the loss, as he continued to make his presence known on defense with a game-high 20 rebounds.
Jessup was led by Aydan Janssan, who tallied 23 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the Warriors. Ja'Maris Blackmon was also a constant threat tonight, as he recorded 11 points, three rebounds and one assist.
The Lions will end their California road trip with a game against Pacific Union College tomorrow night at 7:00 pm.
