Lions Downed by Raiders

PORTLAND, Ore. - Multnomah did what they could to upset the No. 5 ranked Southern Oregon University Raiders tonight, but were ultimately unsuccessful as they lost 3-0, falling to 1-10 in conference play, while SOU improves to 11-1.

"SOU is a top team, and they made us pay for our mistakes tonight," shared Head Coach Nerisa Laban following tonight's defeat. "They came out hot, and I don't think we were ready for that, and we were behind from that point on. We're still able to learn things from games like today, but it's up to us to fix those mistakes going forward."

Marin Mackey led the way for SOU offensively tonight, as she recorded 13 kills. Vitoria Mattos was also crucial in tonight's win for the Raiders, as she recorded a double-double with 10 assists and 11 digs.

Seniors JahNay Jardine and Lauren Porter were two bright spots for the Lions tonight, as Jardine led the way with nine kills, while Porter did what she could defensively with nine digs.

Next up for the Lions is a rematch against crosstown rivals Warner Pacific University on Tuesday at 6:00 pm, before they hit the road against Corban and Bushnell next Friday and Saturday.
