Multnomah (7-6-2, 5-4-2 CCC) kept themselves in the race for a post-season playoff spot as they split their games against Walla Walla University and Rocky Mountain College last weekend. The Lions were victorious over the Wolves of Walla Walla, winning 7-1 on the back of a 4-goal performance from
Nicolas Perdomo-Pinzon. Unfortunately, Multnomah was unable to overcome RMC, as the Lions fell 3-0 against the Bears.
Multnomah out-paced Walla Walla in every offensive category in Friday's win, edging the Wolves 25-to-10 in total shots, 13-to-4 in shots on target, and 7-to-2 in corners on the day. Perdomo-Pinzon got things going for the Lions in the 12th minute, with
Enrique Munoz and
Hunter Martell being credited with the assist. Walla Walla's Eniola Smith leveled things up just three minutes later, but it was all Multnomah from then on.
The Lions retook the lead through Martell in the 25th minute, before Perdomo-Pinzon closed out the half with two additional goals in the 27th and 44th minutes. Out of the halftime interval, Perdomo-Pinzon grabbed his fourth and Multnomah's fifth goal of the day after getting on the end of a pass from
Tomas Espinoza. Martell secured a brace of his own in the 60th minute, while
Paul Einero chipped in with his 13th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 69th minute to close out the game.
The Lions were unable to replicate Friday's performance against Rocky Mountain College, as the Bears ended Multnomah's 7-game unbeaten run with a 3-0 win. Rocky's back line stifled Multnomah's forwards, with the Lions recording just five shots on the day.
Pablo Mendoza recorded three saves for Multnomah, while the Lions tallied 15 fouls to Rocky's nine.
The Lions will close out the conference season on the road against Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho on Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd.
