The Multnomah University men's soccer program were defeated by the Southern Oregon Raiders 1-0. The Lions struggled to find the back of the net this weekend as they hosted and ended both games without scoring.
The game was very physical for both teams. This was seen in the total of 8 yellow cards in the game. The players were putting everything they had on the field. Both teams were tired after both playing in hard fought games just 24 hours before.
The Lions were optimistic about their chances after ending the 1
st half 0-0. They knew that they had to come out fighting in the second half to make something happen. They tried, as you can see with their 9 shots in the 2
nd half compared to their 5 shots in the 1
st.
Pablo Mendoza was able to hold the Raiders off for most of their shots, as he had 8 saves from their 9 shots. Adrian Villegas was able to score in the 64
th minute after making contact with Multnomah's goalkeeper,
Pablo Mendoza.
The Raiders goalkeeper was able to save all 6 shots on goal that Multnomah took.Â
"Part of the challenge of this sport is that sometimes you can do everything right, but still not be able to win the game. I always tell my boys that sometimes you have to be lucky and good. Luck just wasn't on our side today." Coach Parker said after the game.
The Lions will be traveling to Montana this next week, as they take on Carroll College on Thursday and University of Providence on Friday. Multnomah Men's soccer is still hunting for their first conference win. Â
