Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Lions First Road Trip of 2023

The Multnomah Women's Basketball Team was back on the road to face the Evergreen Geoducks on January 14th, and the Northwest University Eagles the following day on the 15th
The Games:
Evergreen: After an even played game through three quarters, Multnomah had a 3-point lead. However, an impressive defensive performance by the Geoducks in the 4th quarter, allowed Evergreen to take hold of the game. Only allowing the Lions to 6 points total in the final period, Evergreen finished the game ahead by 10 with a final score of 65-55.
Northwest University: Multnomah led the Eagle's by 9 points with 5 minutes to go, but the Eagles of Northwest found a way to claw back into it. In a game where a team never held a double-digit lead, the closing moments of the game were as dramatic as they get. Trailing by 4 points with less than a minute to go, Northwest hit 4 key free throws and a dagger of a 3 pointer by Morgan Marshall with less than 30 seconds to go to take the lead. Northwest's clutch performance in the final seconds of the game led to an 82-79 win over the Lions of Multnomah.
The Players:
Evergreen:
Elise Graham 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals
Shaila Mays 10 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds
Kianna Ponce 10 points, 6 rebounds
Northwest:
Dalila Rincan 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists
Alaygza Portis 18 points, 4 rebounds
Kaela Stonebarger 13 points, 2 steals
The Numbers:
Evergreen: With the help of Kianna Ponce, the Lions put 13 bench points compared to Evergreen's 4. However, the Geoducks paint dominance was too much for the Lions as Evergreen scored 42 points in the paint, where the Lions had 24.
Northwest: Multnomah was out rebounded 42-30 by Northwest as well as only putting up 7 assists compared to the Eagle's 19. The Lions scored an important 22 points off turnovers but struggled in snagging 2nd chance points, only scoring 8 compared to Northwest's 19.
