The Multnomah Women's Basketball Team opened at home for their first regular season game against the Pioneers from Pacific Union College from Angwin, California.
The Game:
        Senior, Shaila Mays, scored the first four points for MU and the team never looked back - maintaining the lead for 39 minutes of the contest. The Lions employed a fast-pace, pressure filled defense, forcing the Pioneers into 29 turnovers.Â
The Players:
        Mays led all scorers with 26 points.
        Sophomore, Bailey Dickerson came off the bench to contribute 16 points and 4 rebounds.
        Graduate Student,
Alaygza Portis finished with 12 on 5 of 8 shooting.
        Senior,
Kalena Gibson wrapped up the double digit scorers on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting with 10 points.
        Graduate Student, Elise Graham and Rincan lead the team in assists with 5 a piece.
        Graham also shared the team rebound lead with Junior,
Anna Patterson, both with 6 caroms.Â
The Numbers:
        The Lions broke their single game scoring record with a final score of 107.
        MU also broke their single game assists record with 29.
        The largest lead of the game, 59, also broke the single game win margin for the Lions.
        MU outrebounded PUC 47 to 27.Â

        "This was a great start for us. The women did a great job at setting the tone by turning defense into offense. Having a veteran team, I was thankful to see their maturity and hard work pay off in this first game. We rely on our older players to lead, and they did that very well in all aspects tonight."
