PORTLAND, Ore. – Facing the #14 ranked Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University, the Lions took the 3-set loss on Friday night.
Multnomah had an early 2-point lead in the first set that was quickly taken from the Mountaineers. EOU closed the set with 8 straight points to win 25-10. Set two was similar, seeing the teams tied up at 3's but Eastern pulling away and finishing with 9 straight points. The final score of set two was 25-8. With all the momentum and some new looks, the Mountaineers won set three 25-6.
The two teams had many long rallies, and even had a few that appeared to be a cross court pepper drill. Multnomah was right there with the Mountaineers, but could not execute like their offense did.
Overall, Easterns offense was outstanding – hitting .333, .545, and .321 for an average of .382 on the match. Their minimal unforced errors and consistency won them the match.
Leading the Lions offensively was
Hannah McPhetridge, who finished with 5 kills and a .364 hitting percentage.
Danae Stokes also landed 5 kills on the match. Libero
Alyssa Mehalovich led the squad in digs with 14.
