PORTLAND, Ore. – Opening up their conference campaign, the Multnomah University Lions were dealt the loss at home from the Saints of Carroll College with a final score of 8-1.
Scoring a hat trick in the victory was Carroll senior Nick Lowrimore, who landed 2 in the first half and one in the second. Other Saints with notable stats included Santiago Morazzani and Ben Dagg who both finished with 2 goals and 1 assist each.
The Saints scored 4 in the first half after 21 shot attempts.
Multnomah's only goal was scored after
Noe Magana reached the back of the net on a free kick, making the score 5-1 in the 54
th minute of play.
The Saints quickly responded with a goal of their own on a penalty kick three minutes later. Carroll added two more goals before the clock ran out to seal the victory.
Carroll outshot Multnomah 39-7, and tallied 9 corner kicks to the Lions 1.
This first game is the start of an eight-game conference schedule, in which the Lions will play the other four teams that make up the East Division of the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The winner of the East division will earn one of the conference's two automatic bids to Nationals, with the other coming from the West division. Multnomah will play Carroll College again tomorrow, then will travel to play University of Providence for their next conference matchup.
The teams will take the field again on March 8
th with a 5pm start at Eastside Timbers Complex.
