KIRKLAND, Wash. – Coming off of a close loss to the Eagles the night before, the Lions fell once again to Northwest University with a final score of 85-70 on Saturday, March 3rd.
The Eagles maintained their lead after landing 8 3's to Multnomah's 1 from
Katie Skramstad in the first half. The teams made every possession count, showing consistent hustle and aggression all 20 minutes of play. Northwest had a 17-point advantage at the half, 47-30.
The third quarter was the best offensively for the Lions, tallying their game high 22 points. The two teams went point-for-point for the majority of the second half, but the strong first half from the Eagles was too great to overcome for Multnomah.
It was an impressive offensive showing for the Lions, seeing 4 players in double digits. Leading the charge was
Maddie Hill with 12, followed by
Payton Wangler, Sequioa Wheeler, and
Katie Skramstad all with 11 each. Sequioa Wheeler,
Alaygza Portis, and
Clare Faber all led the team in rebounds with 5 a-piece.
Shooting almost double the amount of free-throws as the Eagles, Multnomah did not take them for granted and finished making 21-25 for 84%. A big difference maker on the stat line and what put Northwest ahead, was the 13 3's they finished with while the Lions only had 3.
The loss gives the team an overall record of 0-4, with three more pre-season game scheduled before conference begins. The Lions next game is currently set as a home game on Wednesday, March 10
th at 4pm against Warner Pacific.
