Home Opening Defeat

PORTLAND, Ore. – After over a year, the Lions got to host a game on their own home court. The team faced the Loggers of University of Puget Sound and lost with a final score of 106-78.

Puget Sound was quick to go up 5-0, but after back-to-back 3's from Andrew Classen and Grant Balvanz the teams were tied up shortly after. The teams continued to trade leads until the Lions offense hit a dry spell and was unable to score for over five minutes. The Loggers took advantage and went up by 11 points with just under seven minutes in the half. However Multnomah went on a run of their own and shortened the lead to 3 just a couple minutes later. Puget Sound prevailed, and worked their way back up to a 10 point lead as the teams went to the locker rooms, with a score of 48-38.

The Loggers continued to chip away at their lead, eventually doubling it to win by 28 points.

Andrew Classen led the team in scoring and rebounds, with 23 and 6 respectively. Zach Richardson was also in the double digits for the Lions and finished with 15.

The team will continue their home weekend and will face Eastern Oregon over the next two days to give them three games in a row. The first matchup between the teams will be March 12th at 4pm, followed by March 13th with a 2pm tip-off for their final matchup before they face each other in their conference opening weekend.
