LEWISTON, Ida. – Taking the court for the first time this season, the Lions fell to the Lewis-Clark State Warriors in Lewiston, Idaho. The Warriors came into the game with a record of 12-1 and currently hold the title of #4 in the NAIA. After a fast-paced game on both sides, the final score saw the Warriors taking the win 124-75.
The first seven minutes saw the teams battling back and forth, but the Warriors pulled away after going on a 21-point run in six minutes. Multnomah fought back, finished the half strong and went into the locker room down by 35 points.
The Lions came out into the second half playing a cleaner game on both ends of the court, earning more points than the first and holding the Warriors back by 14 points.
Three of the Multnomah players tallied double digits on the night – including
Zach Richardson,
Andrew Classen, and
Forrest Smith. Richardson held the team high with 21 points, and was followed by Classen making his college debut with 18. Rounding it out and also leading the team in rebounds was
Forrest Smith with 13.
Starting off the season with no brakes, the first game of the 2021 campaign marked the beginning of a 4 game streak for the Lions. The team will turn around and face Lewis-Clark State again on February 11
th, followed by a pair of games at College of Idaho on the 12th and 13th.
Although the Lions season did not have the beginning hoped for, the team is excited to be back on the court, eager to play again, and thankful they get to compete.
