OLYMPIA/KIRKLAND, Wash. – It was a tough weekend on the road for the Lions, after back-to-back late losses in Washington.
Multnomah played at The Evergreen State College on Friday, October 15
th. The first half was packed full of action, with the Geoducks getting shots up quick and dealing numerous fouls. At the half, the teams were tied 0-0. The second half saw the teams playing steady, and finally the pressure from Evergreen landed them a goal in the 78
th minute. The Lions responded quick with two shots on goal in just a couple minutes after the Geoducks got on the scoreboard, but were unable to score. Evergreen scored again with just over a minute left of play, securing the win 2-0.
Playing the same time the next day, the Lions faced the Eagles of Northwest University on Saturday, October 16
th. Scoring the first and only goal of the first half, the Eagles got on the board in the 12
th minute of play. Northwest did not let up and continued to keep the Lions defense busy.
The Eagles were quick to score again in the second half, landing their second just ten minutes in. Sealing the victory with force, Northwest tallied one more goal in the 66
th minute to win 3-0. The Northwest defense held Multnomah back offensively, and only let one shot go up.
It was another impressive weekend for goalkeeper
Trisha Priest, who tallied a total of 24 saves.
