Corban Escapes with Three Point Win Over Lions

PORTLAND – After a late three-point attempt to tie the game bounced off the rim, the Multnomah University men's basketball team fell just short against Corban University, losing 82-79 on Jim Skagen Court.

GAME SUMMARY:
  • Multnomah jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead to begin the game after a bucket by Brett Blackstock gave the Lions the largest lead of the game.
  • After that, neither team was a head by more than six points for the remainder of the night.
  • Corban took their first lead of the game with 9:30 to play in the first half before MU took a 47-46 advantage at the break.
  • The largest lead of the second half was only four points and both teams battled to a 79-79 tie with just over two minutes to play.
  • Corban converted an and-one with 1:25 to go, giving them a three-point lead that would stand at the buzzer.
 
KEY PERFORMERS:
  • Blackstock led the Lions with 27 points and eight rebounds. Behind him was Justin Martin with 24 points and Ben Grandle with 19 points.
  • For Corban, Denis Kirichenko collected 19 points and AJ Hodges finished with 18 points.
