HILO, Hawaii – The Multnomah University women's basketball team (1-2) traveled to Hawaii this week to face-off against the University of Hawaii at Hilo (1-0) on Friday night at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium. In a game of back and forth momentum runs, it was the Vulcans who were able to put together a strong forth quarter to defeat the Lions 42-52.
For the Lions,
Erykah Campbell made her presence known in the post, recording a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Alaygza Portis had 6 points and 5 rebounds, and
Payton Wangler scored 7 points.
The Vulcans were led by Allie Navarette with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kim Schmelz had 11 points.
Head coach
Tim Bieri shared his thoughts after the game, "Our team played really hard tonight and we saw a lot of good things. We struggled to score but continued to battle in order to stay in it. It's nice that we get another chance to play again tomorrow, and we are looking forward to another great game."
The two teams meet again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm.
