EUGENE, Ore. – The Lady Lions (6-19, 4-13 CCC) went south to Eugene Oregon on the first night of a two-day road stand against fourth-placed Northwest Christian Beacons (16-8, 13-4 CCC). A strong opening half proved to be enough for the Beacons, who took the win, 68-48.
Everything seemed to go in favor of the Beacons during the first half, as they jumped out to a 14-1 lead in the opening six minutes. A lone three-pointer and free throw came from Senior
Miranda Schmillen in the first quarter, trailing the Beacons 17-4. Northwest Christian tacked on more to their lead in the second quarter, with the Lions behind 38-12.
The second half play saw a different Lions team led by Seniors Schmillen with 12 of her 18, and
Lacie Kamper who scored all 8 of her points. Multnomah outscored Northwest Christian in the second half, 36-30. Other standout performances for the Lions came from
Kayla Hyppolite with 7, and
Katherine Edmonds who scored 4 but collected a team-high 9 rebounds. Three Beacons (Conner Borigo 13 & Jenna Christenson 11) finished with double-digit points on the night, including a double-double from Hanna Mack (14 & 11).
