CALDWELL, Idaho – Missing a few key players in the lineup, the Multnomah University volleyball team couldn't quite match up against The College of Idaho, losing 16-25, 18-25 and 17-25 on the road on Friday night.
The Lions (5-9, 1-7 CCC) struggled to stop the Yotes' offense as the hosts rode a .344 hitting percentage in the first set to take an early lead.
Sophomore
Miranda Halverson picked up the attack for the Lions, recording 11 kills while junior
Patty Batoon added seven kills.
College of Idaho used am 8-1 in the second set to break away from MU. The Lions brought it to within three, 17-20, but it wouldn't be enough as the C of I scored the last five points of the match.
Ashley Pagan led the Yotes with 10 kills followed by Randi Sturtz with nine. Jayde Folsom recorded a match high 20 assists.
C of I continued to put together runs in the final set, as the closed out the night with a sweep.
Marissa Rhodes tallied 19 assists while
Kiana Miller and Kayle Keane recorded 12 digs each.
The Lions return to action tomorrow night as they face off against No. 6 Eastern Oregon in La Grande, Ore.
