Undefeated NU Too Much for Lions

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Multnomah University men's basketball team put together a strong showing against a very talented and senior-laden group from Northwest University. The Lions played two solid halves of basketball with five players scoring in double digits, but were simply out-sized, out-matched and out-lasted by the undefeated Eagles, finishing with a 79-100 loss.
 
The Basics
• Score: Multnomah: 79 | Northwest University: 100
• Location: Northwest University, Kirkland, Wash.
• The Short Story: MU cut the lead to 2 points at the 5:35 mark of the first half, but that would be as close as they would come to the 22nd ranked Eagles. Northwest was led by Michael Dupree who put in 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The Eagles totaled six players who finished the night with double digit scoring with Justice Marion putting together a double double (13 points, 10 rebounds). MU protected the basketball well, finishing the night with only 11 turnovers, compared to NU's 12. The rebounding contest went the way of the taller Eagles who grabbed 54 rebounds to MU's 37.

How It Happened
• Ben Grandle hit 5 threes for the second night in a row and finished with a team leading 18 points.
• Thomas Simien banged his way to 15 points and 9 rebounds.
•  Jon Viles added 12 points while Max Upchurch and Michael Escobedo added 11 and 10 points respectively.
