EUGENE, Ore. – The Multnomah University women's basketball team struggled defensively against Northwest Christian as the Beacons hit 12 three-pointers to win 78-45 on Saturday night at the Morse Event Center.
The Lions fall to 3-15 on the year and 1-9 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference while the Beacons extend their conference winning streak to eight games and sit at a tie for second place in the CCC standings at 12-6, 8-2 CCC.
MU started out very strong on the night, earning the lead at the end of the first quarter with the score 13-8.
Junior guard
Miranda Schmillen finished with a team high 12 points followed by
Sadie Jenks who hit three 3-points to total nine points. Sophomore
Valerie Wakefield tallied eight points and added four rebounds while
Lacie Kamper notched six points and four rebounds.
Northwest Christian took control of the night in the in the third quarter of play, outscoring the Lions 28-11 to go up 58-36 with one quarter remaining.
For the Beacons, Jenna Christenson totaled 12 points and hit four shots from behind the arc while Sami Pitts finished the night with 10 points. Four other players finished with nine points including Andrea Gloss who also added seven rebounds. Hanna Mack grabbed a game high four rebounds and totaled four blocks.
The Lions only play one game next week as they return home to host Walla Walla University on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. on Jim Skagen Court.
