MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Multnomah University women's basketball team dropped an exhibition with Linfield College 87-67, on the road Friday night.
The Lions stay 0-3 on the season as exhibitions do not count towards records or season stats.
How It Happened: The Lions hung with the Wildcats in the early minutes of the first quarter before a seven point run late in the opening period gave Linfield some breathing room. Trailing 17-12, the Lions stumbled defensively, allowing another big run as the first quarter ends 25-12 in favor of Linfield.
The Wildcats shot 42.7 percent from the field and dominated the boards with a 24 rebound advantage, 55 total compared to MU's 31, which included 26 offensive rebounds.
As the game went on, Linfield continued to add to their lead, finishing the first half with an 18 point led, 49-31.
Second chance points plagued the Lions as they tried to fight back into the game. Linfield knocked down nine 3-pointers while converting 16 free throws.
The Wildcats held their largest lead late in the fourth quarter, a 27 point advantage before wining 87-67 to end the night.
By the Numbers: Guard
Sadie Jenks led the way offensively for MU, recording 14 points while shooting 4-for-9 from three-point. Following Jenks was
Miranda Schmillen with 11 points while
Lacie Kamper added eight points and eight rebounds.
As a team, the Lions shot 72 percent from the free throw line, converting 18-of-25 attempts.
For the Wildcats, four players finished in double figures in points with Amantha Hood tallying a game high 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds.
