PORTLAND, Ore – The Multnomah University volleyball team continued their non-conference action on Tuesday night on the road, but couldn't extend their winning streak as they fell to NCAA Division III opponent Pacific University in three sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-8).
It was the first non-conference loss for the Lions this season as they move to 2-11 overall, 0-10 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
For the Boxers, they earn their third consecutive win and move to 5-9 overall.
How it Happened: Pacific jumped out to a quick lead in the opening set against the Lions, forcing a 10-4 advantage. MU played their most competitive set of the start earning five straight points to come within two of the Boxers at 12-10. An eight-point run by Pacific gave the Boxers the edge to secure the first set 25-17.
Pacific used a .429 attack percentage in set two and a .479 attack percentage in what would be the final set of the night, securing their second sweep of a CCC team this year. The Boxers forced multiple points in a row throughout the night, with their largest streak being an eight point run in both set one and two.
By the Numbers: Patty Batoon led the offense for the Lions, recording 10 kills and two blocks.
Marissa Rhodes tallied 13 assists and seven digs while
Miranda Halverson totaled five kills and a team high eight digs.
The Boxers finished with a .344 attacking percentage led by Hannah Herbert and Ciara Smith who totaled 11 and 10 kills respectively. Jamie Steach finished with a match high 25 assists while Lia Zablan had 14 digs.
