Men's Soccer Finish Out the 2015 Season with Loss to Carroll

PORTLAND, Ore. – After a two and a half hour delay and a change of location, the Multnomah University men's soccer team closed out the 2015 campaign with a 4-0 loss to Carroll College on a cold and rainy Saturday night.

A game that was originally to be played at Portland Christian High School, got moved to Concordia University after the rain left the grass field unplayable.

With the win Carroll improves to 11-5-2 on the season and secures the fifth seed in the CCC postseason tournament.

The Lions bounced back from a devastating loss to the University of Great Falls last night, improving defensively and showing strong moves offensively.

The Saints earned the first goal of the game almost 11-minutes into the opening half after a deflected ball landed at the foot of Carroll's James Lamont who found the back of the net.
Carroll wouldn't be able to add to their lead until the 41st minute, when Alessio Georgiades scored his first of three goals from 10-yards out.

MU had a chance to get on the scoreboard late in the opening half, but a foul in the box kept the clean sheet alive for the Saints.

"A solid end to a good first season," said head coach Tom Stephens, "Every guy played hard, every guy busted their tail to the final whistle and every guy walked off the field with his head held high. I can't ask for anymore."

Alessio would score his final two goals late in the second half, one from a free kick 15-yards out in front of the box and his final on a penalty kick in the 82-minute.

The Lions close out their final game of their first season as members of both the Cascade Conference and the NAIA.
