TRI CITIES, Wash – The Multnomah University men's soccer team found the most offensive in program history on Saturday but couldn't hang on for the win, losing to Trinity Lutheran 4-2 at a neutral site.
Trinity Lutheran opened up the scoring in the match, finding a goal roughly 15 minutes into the first period of play.
The Eagles didn't have the lead for long as MU's
T.K. Moffit sneaked past a defender in the corner before sending the ball on a cross allowed
Micah Sugiura to find the back of the net for his second goal in two games.
Moments later,
Juan Candido sent a through ball towards
Michael Kochis who tried to make a move past the Eagles keeper, forcing a foul and earning the Lions a penalty kick. Candido lined up to take the kick and as the keeper dove right, he sent the ball to the left, giving MU the lead 2-1 heading into halftime.
The Lions had a chance to add to their lead, earning a free kick at the top of the box but the Eagles goalie found a way to make a save, denying Candido his second goal of the game.
Trinity Lutheran continued to fight back and found a way to break through the Lions defense, scoring three goals throughout the remainder of the game.
The Lions return home for the final two games of the season on Friday, Oct. 30 against Carroll College before playing University of Great Falls on Saturday.
